H.R.Giger's Guestbook!

Here are the comments from April'96!

I haven't seen a thing, since I'm using a non-graphical browser, and I've never been to the Giger Bar in Chur (it was always closed when I was in Chur). However, I unconditionally like all swiss persons who left this country.

I want you to know that you are the soul reason I became an artist! Your work has inspired me in many, many ways. Writing, painting, music, dreams and nightmares. I do believe you were one of the things that made me see there is more to life that what I was living on a small farm in Virginia. Before I saw your work, I was fast becoming a mediocrity...destine to live a dull and uneventful life working at the Shipyard, as my Father and Brother did. Your work opened my eyes in many ways. I just wanted you to know that you've touched and changed people in many ways. I'm living proof. Thank you Hans.

I'm speechless, your works of art are really disturbing. I'm a student of the "Accademia di Belle Arti and I want you to know that I'm very envious of your ability. I really think you'll be an inspiration for my future career, infact I'm convinced too that art's future is in the mixture between technique and human sensibility. All the best ! Giulia

This is wonderful site...allowing me to participate in the workings of a gnius of imagination and brilliant dreams. I hope to purchase a print...and I hope that H.R.Giger got to see the picture that I sent to him via e-mail to the Web Designer here. It was influenced by his visions ans sexual imagery. BRAVO GIGER! I just love Surrealism and Giger.. Im currently doing year 11 at school and 3 of my 5 subjects are ART. Im hoping to go to college to get a degree in arts and someday to be as good or better than Giger.. But until that day I can only create and improve myself at every chance.. My greatest drive is showing friends and other lookers, that our future is not going to be pure and nice.. We are all doomed....

I have been really into H.G. Giger's work because I have like to watch the movies; "Alien" "Aliens" "Aliens3" "Speices" The reason why that I like these movies is; 1.) Well good efects. 2.) Good story behind it. 3.) Really wonderful to think that they might exsits. I hope that the new movie of Aliens4 will blow the other movies because out of the three my favorite movie is the second one becuase there is a lot of aliens.

There is absolutely no way I can properly convey my worship to you. You are resposnsible for the best two movies (Alien3 was horrible, or do you agree?) I have ever seen. You have created images I can only hope to someday make a pathetic copy of. All I can say is thank you. Thank you so much.

I did not know you were the artist for the Alien movies. My compliments to you, Mr. Giger in your ablity to incorporate my dreams and nightmares into one dimension. That dimension is a realm in my own mind and I call it fantasy. You have embodied what I could not otherwise utter except in slumber and passion.

Sites like this are what make the internet so fantastic. This is an amazing site. The depth of emotion one realizes from the greys and blacks never ceases to amaze and delight me. I am continually fascinated with what I see in Giger's work. I traveled to Europe two years ago for the specific purpose of going to Chur to see the Giger Bar. To my dismay, it was closed and would not reopen for a few weeks. I promised myself that I would go back soon. It was wonderful to experience, even from the outside.

I would just like to thank for presenting the world with real art as it has been without such vision and grace of style for such a long time. As most, I became a fan of your artwork through the film "ALIEN" and have since ecdeavoured to veiw the body of your work. Since I live in the great and "podunky" state of texas I have never had the honor of seeing your work in person, but I have journeyed far and wide on the net and have badgered book retailers tirelessly in search of the volumes of your works. I only wish that I could in some small way return to you the great gift that you have bestowed upon the world with your visionary style. sincerely and forever so, steven s norfolk

I have you listed on my up and coming webpage as the third most brilliant human being on the planet. I myself like to sketch, but you are grandmaster supreme. Nobody has come close to your style and imagination, and most just copy your stuff. My friend is an art student and she sais that your shading is the best she has ever seen. Thank you for being such an excellent artist and for inspiring me to put even more detail and effort into my sketches - although some people say it's disgusting. Be Well Stefan Wessels

Hello! I am a film student from holland and I am currently writing my Alien thesis. This will give a analysis on the gender issue in the Alien trilogy. I really "enjoy" and are totally fascinated by your work and would like to have some more information on it.Maybe you can give me some advice on which books/articles to read since the art direction is a very important issue in my thesis. Their are a lot of theories/analysis made on the representation of the alien in the film and what she stands for(anti feminism etc.) I (trying to be a filmmaker myself) would like to shed a different light on the theories by approaching it from a filmmakers' point of view. Hopefully you will help me establish that. Thanks a million, Mascha! emma@kmt.hku.nl or mascha.bouwens@student-kmt.hku.nl

VISIONS OF MADNESS The dreams themselves were at first merely strange, but they are quickly becoming more haunting now. The visions always begin with a brillant flash of light and the naus- eating odor of decay. Mammoth corridors of stone begin to blur as I soar past at an unknown speed. The tight choking air surrounds my head, it's painfully hard to catch my breath. A burst of light sweeps up and down gigantic incl- ining planes of the same monstrous stonework. Another blinding flash occurs and I see an enormous vaulted chamber whose lofty carvings are well lost A.E.K. P.S. Thankyou for you visons into the hidden shadows of our brightly lit world. Your vision is amazing. The brief story above is based on dreams I have had.

I am greatly pleased to see that H.R. Giger has found yet another means to expose his darkling imagination to the daylight of the world's masses. Giger - I've been mystified by your art for years, and I still cannot grasp how you do it. It's art as art should be - a total mystery. I have been a true admirer of Giger's work since first seeing 'Alien' when I was ten. It has had such a tremendous impact on my life. I try to collect all things relating to the Alien. Currently, I am getting a tattoo on my back of the Alien creature and hope to continue the theme into a full back art piece. It's being done by Jersey Phil in Kenvil,NJ. He's told me that Giger himself came with his nephew to his shop. I'd die for him to see how the tattoo is going so far. Phil loves it. My ultimate goal is to one day own a lifesize model of the Alien figure. I hope I can see that day happen soon.

Giger's work has always fascinated me utterly. The dark, powerful, twisted, and utterly sexual imagery he uses is almost hypnotic... A friend of mine bought the Tarot major-arcana-only deck with Giger artwork, and I was amazed. (I'd almost be too frightened to ever do a reading with that thing...) ;-) Mr. Giger, I salute you...

I am a very big fan of H.R. Giger's artwork. I was greatly disappointed to here that he'd done artwork to be used in the movie, Dune. But that it never got shown. I find his use of browns and purples and greens highly stimulating. His subjects border on the perverse, which I also find particularly stimulating. The fetus-like, and bio-mechanical pictures are what I enjoy most. The way he blends the sujects together is so cool, that I find it hard to believe that so few people have tried to use his style and technique. H.R. Giger is my favorite artist, by far. I'd like to give him the Altoid Award for Excellence in the Field of Taboo Picture Art. Have an Altoid, Mr. Giger. You're the best.

I dont know what to say here, seeing as how if you found this page, you must already know what a master Mr. Giger is! I am pleased to see that he has a site like this on the Internet, for by all accounts I have heard of him, he is quite the recluse, but I think that a page on the Net is one of the best ways for a recluse like him to get his stuff out there to the world without having to deal with crazy people like us bothering him with silly questions about his stunning artwork. For God's sake, leave him alone so he can do his art!!!!

I have been a fan of Mr. Giger for at least 10 years now and I am still loving his artwork more, and more. When Darkseed hit the market, I was very, very happy about it, now I am going to get Darkseed II, and enjoy that as much or more than the first. His [Giger's] work still astounds me and I will be purchasing more work in the years to come. Thank you Puddle

upon visiting your bar in chur last summer, i must say i was utterly impressed at the design and workmanship. my heart and fears were traced upon that floor. what made it even more impressive was the lady behind the bar. she was very beautiful and wore all black, but that wasn't just it, her throat looked as if she had received a tracheotomy. i questioned my thoughts and wondered if that was part of the hiring process. also i must comment on the piece located right outside the bar, great, especially the amount of weathering it as received.keep up the madness, awaiting to fear.
