Comments: Man meeting aliens is the most exciting idea. To create a species which
becomes so believable through thought out design and a plausable life cycle is a huge
achievement. All Giger's work is fantastically him, The combination of machines with
biology is a wonderful idea. Thank you Hans for inspiring me!! An artist, Andrew Whitlock

Comments: Greetings! I have enjoyed HR's work since I first shit my pants in the
theatre back in the 70's when I saw ALIEN. It is one of the few things that has truly
influenced my life in that it has inspired me to be more creative. The ALIEN is even in my
dreams. Whenever I go through troubled times in my life, it manifests itself in my dreams
as an expression of anxiety. Most of the time when I dream this, I am in a large building
or other structure and I "sense" that the Alien is near. Usually above me on
upper floors. I wouldn't call these dreams nightmares, only unsettling dreams. Once I told
a friend of this and she said I should try to confront it in my dream the next time it
happens. Coincidently, that night I dreamed I entered a large auditorium. The stage was
brightly lit and had a large shimmering, silver curtain. There was a cresendo of music and
the curtain flung open to reveal the Alien complete with a top hat and cane!!! Talk about
"confronting"! Since then, anytime I dream of the Alien, it is a concious cue to
me that I am dreaming and I actually go looking for it in my dream. Instead of being
scared, I am now excited when this happens! Unfortunately I was unable to see Alien 4 in
the theatre. I was unaware that 20th Century denied HR credit. How low can they get!? I
will certainly keep my eyes open for any copyright infringments for you as you requested.
HR, keep up the incredible work! Best wishes - Mark B

able to give you my words of thought. I have loved your artwork since I saw it in a issue
of Heavy Metal when I was about 5 and I am 23 now so that must tell you something. I have
seen your movies and enjoyed them all. Upsetting most of all is they didn't use you in all
of the Alien movies, they werent the same without your unique touch. Is there any chance
of any other games comming out with your artwork as the format for the game? I have played
both Darksead games and enjoyed them thuroghly. I hope you get the credit you deserve for
the contribution you have made in changeing the horror and sci-fi genre to what it is
today. My deapest regards and hope to make it to one of your bars in the near future.

Comments: Dear H.R.Giger, should you ever read this, you leave me as distressed as
ever in view of your dealings with the Species 2 project which I hoped to be jumping for
joy about, and then the gloom sets in to unveil the truth. I thought that something looked
a little odd when I noticed in a photo of the Patrick creature that the lower jaw didn't
look quite right as if it had split down the centre, and then I saw a photo of the
tri-segmented back leg of the creature that didn't seem to be like what you planned with
your Patrick creature, and then the truth came out and I will be eating gloom soup for
some time to come. One can feed on feelings of gloom in various ways. I wish that you
would release a book of your drawing designs for the Species 2 film even if they were
ignored, but there wouldn't be much point as you don't want your name connected to the new
designs of the film of course. I don't know what plans there are for this of course. I
liked all the sketches that were used so far naturally. And I thank the Giger Fanclub for
the print of the Patrick Monster sketch. The movie still hasn't reached England yet, I
don't know if there is any point waiting, I've heard bad news about it. I did get a thrill
out of the woman dressed in the Sil/Eve suit on the cover of Cinefantastique though, I
loved her high heels, the woman in the suit had a nice sexy curvature, and she looked very
much a biomechanic Vargas girl, a nice example of biomechanic cheescake. So there we go.
There seem to be a number of Alien 3 sketches that were never shown in the book on Film
Design, they may never be seen by the looks of it, although some were shown in the
documentary on the making of Alien 3 where you were interviewed to make it look as if you
had designed the creature. I loved the ox alien design, I have a desire to draw it over
and over again, because I have been bitten by the Giger's Alien obsession bug a long time
ago and have not been able to get what ever it is out of my system that got in. Also there
was a microscopic picture of a photo of a sketch of yours for the Vincent Ward project
with the alien crouching on a coffin being carried by monks and I think it held a cross
and this was in the British Aliens comicbook a couple of years ago. I wonder when it's
likely that we'll see all of this work to compensate for the lack of alien substance from
that time. It might add food for thought to the alien comic book stories to feed on. I
haven't bought one of those comic books for a long time because they ran out of ideas that
interested me. I was very glad to read in the Unmasked fanzine devoted to a comicbook
illustrator who's name I've totally forgotten that you liked Delicatessen and Cite Des
Enfants Perdus, I felt that these would have been films that might have attracted you, I'm
mildly obsessed with their creativity. I wished that Jeunet had more to say about your
work, perhaps he will later on, unless he's totally ignorant about your creativity which
it seems some people are. Caro has illustrated comic stories for Metal Hurlant, I've
managed to scan a couple for a person to put on her website devoted to the duo. I'm
getting more and more inspired by Alien Resurrection and all the ideas that it ripped off
from Giger's work, and I liked the Bacon influence in the film too, it's become more
definite now. I've read SFX and so I have to say that I can't wait for the Alien Diary to
erupt, and I can't wait for Taschen to release the Mystery of San Gottardo. I think that
by the time when they've developed the Soul Catcher electronic microchip to go into
people's brains to record their thoughts, they'll have the technology to show thoughts on
screen and people will be able to learn how to organize their thoughts into film shows and
then arrange and edit them and you will probably be still alive and well preserved, and we
can have "thought films" by H.R.Giger showing his biomechanoids leaping into
action, and we'll see how the Alien 3 monster should have looked too. If you aren't alive
by then, we can have you cloned, or we'll have you summoned by a medium, or we'll go a
stage further and summon the demon that puts those ideas into your head, and I'm sure that
this demon is a nice one, like the Baphomet in the zodiac fountain etchings, otherwise
we'll be in for a lot of trouble once that thing gets loose on this planet. Yours
sincerely Dominic Kulcsar

old shrapnel, rusting and causing hemmorage to frontal lobes.rust never sleeps.I will not
insult you by saying that I wis that I could paint like you,I can't,my work is nothing
like yours whatsoever, but I hope that Ican get my message across to people as well as you
convey yours. This is the most that any artist can hope to achieve if it doesn't happen in
this lifetime don't get discouraged,it's too early,or not the right time, not to mention
the hardest thing to accomplish in these days is getting deaf ears to listen.only the
truth remains constant......like the warped reflection of ourselves, so is H.R.

Comments: Greetings master Giger, This is J. van Valkenburg, an artist from the
Netherlands! I really adore the grim and desolate atmosphere in your work. Your work
sometimes looks it was made in another world and time! Together with Hieronymous Bosch,
your my favourite artist ever. I've been painting for over 7 years (oilpaint only) and
I've had 6 expositions in my own country and abroad (Norway). Also I've done cd covers for
metal bands, like Immortal from Norway. My work is inspired by ancient myth and religion
(I've been a student of Prehistory/archaeology for 6 years). My paintings are like icons
of gods and goddesses not worshipped for thousands of years! My highest goal in life is to
create art! So I've founded an organization called 'Art Above All'. For all members art is
the most important thing in their miserable life and they are willing to die for their
art! I would really appreciate it if you find the time to e-mail me and let me know what
inspires you the most! 'Til the triumph of Darkness, J. van Valkenburg, Art Above All,

mind. I can though only hope to glipse a tiny bit of the genius so bountiful in your work.
You are an astounding artist who truely deserves more credit than you are given,
especially in light of the recent Alien: Resurrection incident. Also, I was wondering, do
you still vaccuum your cat as you did in the 1976 documentary of yourself? May you
continue to expand into all realms of artistic endevours. Also, I think it would be
wonderful for you to design an H.R. Giger inspired amusement park ride, perhaps at the new

realms of your sensually rich vision! sincerely, J. Michael Comia

what Giger must feel when he pains or sculpts. His work just shows a lot of power dark
power it feels like... its not that the work is scary because it is but its just what
drives him to paint and sculpt this way. I guess we will never know. But its cool that

Comments: I first saw Giger's exquisite work in the film 'ALIEN' at the tender age
of six...i was living in southern Florida and my parents took my sister and i to the
drive-in theater so they could see the movie...they warned us we might be a little scared
and showed us that 'Star Wars' was playing on a screen behind us...well, i had already
seen that flick three four times already, so i couldn't help but catch as much of the
'ALIEN' action as i could...despite a mild nightmare that evening about an ALIEN popping
from my chest, i was immediately hooked...no, in love with the creature It was years later
that i learned of Mr. Giger and his beautiful designs that made the movies what they are
today...surrealistic, frightening, and oh so erotic...too bad the version of 'Dune'
released wasn't his, but thank you soooo much for the influence...the stuff is wild,
lovely, way out there, and orgasmic...please keep it up... all hail the real artists and
their true to heart manifestations of truth....love, Dr. Phranco P. Fenderson, phD

Comments: Species 2 looks like itll be fun. I noticed something, people are saying
that Alien Ressurection is a bad movie but they are just saying that because of the fact
that Giger didnt get his credit for it, thing is, Ccredit or not, it WAS a beautiful
movie. A gorgues design on the Alien/Ripley creature, and the Queen alien in the LArge
room was magnificent, try not to get people to put down the movie so much, but instead get
people to make Fox give giger credit. thanx

Comments: GIGER! You are my greatest inspiration! When I first stumbled upon your
work many years ago it changed my life forever! When I first picked up your Necronomicon I
was so entranced that I could not speak! What a vision! I was living with a young girl at
the time and threw her out of the house immediately so I would not be bothered while I
attempted to emulate your style! I read that you used an air brush so I rushed out and
bought one for myself. Little did I know that I needed an air compressor to use it! My
first crude attempts at expression became better as I used what free time I could steal.
Many years later I evolved a style more my own, but it was YOU who inspired me to begin!
Now I have quit my absurd job as an insurance salesman and create only my art. My art has
become my life, as your art has always been yours. I do not know that I would have come to
this without your help. Perhaps yes, perhaps not ... But I thank you Giger! You were my
original inspiration and continue to astound me to this day! May you live a long life and
create many more worlds! ... With true admiration, RS Connett

artwork. When I was in art school, I studied many of your books, and it in turn reflected
my work and style. Now I've shyed away from traditional art medium to graphic design and
web development. I would really love the opportunity to redesign your website (i was a bit
dissapointed in the design). I ask that you look at my website:
